RETAIN! FILL
 
RETAIN! FILL is a totally new patent pending structural engineering
                    concept which has rapidly grown in use by the building and
civil engineering
                    industries due to its significant cost savings and very short construction
time
                    compared with retaining walls.

                    Our scientists and engineers are constantly endeavouring to reduce retaining wall
                    costs. As a result they have succeeded in eliminating the retaining wall altogether!
                    Due to the friction angle of soil an embankment will have an angled side. A
                    retaining wall is therefore required to create a steeper angle or a vertical side.

                    The RETAIN! FILL solution consists of a stabilised soil embankment. Hence no wall
                    is needed to acheive a vertical side. A fasia
wall of lightweight masonry blocks is
                    usually attached to the side of the RETAIN! FILL mass, however, for aesthetic
                    purposes.
Hence, RETAIN! FILL can even be installed without a wall to reduce
                    costs
for temporary applications or where aesthetics are not important! The
                    RETAIN! FILL
solution is installed in place of retaining walls to create a vertical,
                    stepped or sloping masonry block face at a change
in level at a fraction of the
                    price and construction time of a retaining wall.

                    Retaining walls usually consist of a reinforced concrete block wall and footing to
                   
resist the soil loads. RETAIN! FILL does away with the footing, steel reinforcement,
                    concrete,
large excavation costs (due to its narrow width), concrete setting delays
                    and can usually
even reuse the excavated material behind the wall. In fact, a 1.5m
                   
RETAIN! FILL system can usually be constructed and backfilled in the same time
                    it takes to construct the concrete footing of a retaining wall!

                    Making reinforced soil technology redundant, RETAIN! FILL can usually reuse
                    the onsite soils, so you can forget about soil disposal costs or bringing in expensive
                    granular fills. If it is not practical to reuse the excavated soil we can stabilise most
                    soils for use as RETAIN! FILL. You no longer need soil reinforcement so don't
                    worry about designing for pullout and no more worries about strip corrosion. Forget
                    about heavy mass concrete blocks or reinforced concrete panels: no longer
                    necessary. Every block is positively tied into the RETAIN! FILL mass without any
                    connection with the blocks so block weight is now irrelevant. Due to its narrow
                    width RETAIN! FILL will usually halve the amount of excavation (and hence
                    backfilling) required, slashing your costs again. Less excavation, less backfilling
                    and light weight blocks all amount to a significantly reduced construction time also!
